Chiropractic care focuses on addressing the root cause of health issues rather than simply masking symptoms, promoting balance and harmony in the body as an effective approach to preventive health.
The Case History
During your initial visit, Dr. Köhne will take a thorough health history, exploring the nature of your concerns and any past illnesses, injuries, or accidents that may have contributed to your current condition. This case history, combined with the findings from your examination, will guide the development of a personalized treatment plan aimed at restoring your health.
The Examination
- Joint manipulation
- Soft tissue therapies such as dry needling, kinesio taping, cross friction massage, or hot/cold therapy
- Prescribed exercises to enhance recovery
Do I need x-rays?
Patients are evaluated through clinical examinations, laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging (such as x-rays, MRI, or CT scans), and other diagnostic methods to determine the suitability of chiropractic treatment. During the examination, the doctor will assess whether x-rays or additional tests are needed. X-rays of the spine and skeleton, particularly after trauma, can often confirm the doctor’s findings and help develop a more individualised and precise treatment plan.
How long will it take?
Each patient is unique and responds to care differently. While some experience immediate relief, children often see rapid results, whereas adults and seniors with long-standing issues may require more time. It’s crucial to complete the full course of prescribed treatment sessions, as missing appointments or scheduling them too closely together can hinder the body’s ability to heal effectively.
Healing is a partnership between the patient and the chiropractor, with active participation leading to faster and more lasting results. Although symptoms may diminish early in the treatment process, it’s important to continue care until the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine are fully healed to prevent relapse. Regular spinal checkups are recommended to maintain health after recovery.
If progress is slower than expected, the treatment plan will be adjusted, or a referral to another specialist may be made, with the patient’s health always being the top priority.
Will I receive medication?
No! Chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to healthcare. They possess broad diagnostic skills and are trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional and lifestyle counseling. Supported by sound science and extensive research, chiropractic care continues to be recognized for its safety, effectiveness, and value in modern healthcare.
When chiropractic care is not suitable for a patient’s condition or when co-management with other healthcare providers is necessary, chiropractors will promptly refer patients to the appropriate specialists.
